Corporate video content can be quite useful for introducing people to your brand and explaining your products and services in an exciting and visually appealing fashion.鈥

However, making a successful corporate video can be quite scary. Some of the questions that might be circling your mind include:鈥

  • Should you work with a video production agency?鈥
  • Is it better to hire a videographer?鈥
  • Should you stick to your budget and rely on your in-house teams?鈥

To put your mind at ease, this article explores how you can use the right tools to help your non-technical teams and subject matter experts produce engaging corporate video content.鈥

What is brand video production?鈥

Brand video production aims to communicate a company鈥檚 values and identity to viewers by creating high-quality corporate videos.鈥

Organizations create corporate videos to communicate a specific message. There are many different types of corporate videos, including product demos, explainer videos, company culture videos, and advertisements.鈥

In addition to communicating a specific message, these videos are also designed to achieve a specific desired outcome, such as boosting employee engagement, brand awareness, or sales.鈥

Importance of high-quality corporate video production聽

High-quality corporate videos can help you build strong relationships with your target audience and boost your video marketing efforts. Compared to images and text, videos are better at grabbing and holding the viewer鈥檚 attention. This makes them great for communicating your message.鈥

Video content also promotes loyalty and trust with your target audience by eliciting positive emotions through the combination of narrative, sound effects, and visuals. Top-tier videos are easily shared across various platforms, boosting their ability to promote visibility and awareness.鈥

More importantly, videos enhance conversions by catering to customer pain points and clearly detailing services and products. They also increase the amount of time visitors spend on your website, boosting its SEO rankings as a result.鈥

Strategies and ideas for different types of corporate videos聽

There are many different types of corporate videos. Each one is designed to achieve a different goal. Here鈥檚 a breakdown of the main types of videos and ideas on how you can boost their quality.鈥

1. Origin story videos聽

These videos tell a positive and inspiring story of how the organization was founded. An origin video can contain details about the founding members, their reasons for starting the company, the obstacles they faced, and their successes.鈥

A great origin story should be authentic, creative, and emotional, showcasing your brand鈥檚 purpose and vision. For the best outcome, consider hiring a creative copywriter and storyteller when creating an origin story video.鈥

2. Commercials and video ads鈥

Video ads are designed to promote a service or product. They are one of the most common types of corporate videos and typically range between 15 seconds and 2 minutes in length. These videos can be used on a variety of platforms, including social media, TV, and YouTube.鈥

A good commercial should grab the viewer鈥檚 attention in the first few seconds and retain it for the rest of the ad. These videos should also be concise and free of any filler material. They should also have a clear call to action.鈥

3. Product demo videos聽

A product demo video is the way to go for companies looking to show off new product functionalities and features. These videos help customers envision the usefulness of a product or service by showing how features can be applied in practical scenarios.鈥

In addition to featuring simple instructions on how to use the service or product, these videos should include use cases of the product, relatable pain points, and practical advice and examples.鈥

4. Corporate safety and training videos聽

These videos promote workplace safety and teach new skills to employees. Data protection, workplace hazards, and fire safety are some of the main areas addressed by safety videos. Training videos can also teach new skills, such as how to use the latest software solutions and handle daily processes.鈥

Some of the hallmarks of engaging safety and training videos include the use of easy-to-memorize visual elements, step-by-step instructions, and concise and straightforward advice.鈥

5. Customer testimonials鈥

These videos feature genuine customers detailing their experience using a specific service or product. They are essential for building credibility and trust.鈥

A captivating customer testimonial video should use evocative and descriptive language, genuine descriptions of how the product made the customer feel, and a clear and heartfelt explanation of the outcome achieved. The video should also compare the product or service to competing options, positioning it favorably.鈥

6. Broadcast meetings & events

Broadcasting meetings and corporate events allow organizations to connect with employees, stakeholders, and external audiences in real time, ensuring key messages are delivered clearly and effectively. Whether it鈥檚 an all-hands meeting, a product launch, or a thought-leadership panel, live-streamed events create opportunities for engagement, transparency, and brand credibility.

A well-produced broadcast meeting or event should focus on:

Clear audio and visuals 鈥 Poor sound or video quality can make even the most compelling content ineffective. Invest in good microphones, lighting, and reliable streaming platforms to maintain professional production standards.

Engaging presentation formats 鈥 Incorporate multi-camera setups, live graphics, and pre-recorded segments to keep viewers engaged. Switching between speakers, showcasing slides, and integrating audience questions in real time can elevate the experience.

Interactive elements 鈥 Encourage audience participation through live Q&A sessions, polls, and chat interactions. This fosters a two-way conversation rather than just a one-way broadcast.

On-demand accessibility 鈥 Not everyone can attend a live event. Make sure recordings are available afterward, allowing employees, clients, or prospects to revisit key moments at their convenience.

With the right tools and workflows, even non-technical teams can take control of event broadcasting. Platforms like Quorum simplify live production, making it easier to deliver professional-quality streams without the need for extensive technical expertise.

Empowering non-technical staff to produce engaging video content聽

The video production process involves several important steps, including pre-production, production, and post-production. Suppose you are producing videos that offer a significant return on investment once they are distributed to the target audience (like video ads). In that case, you can justify the cost of hiring a corporate video production company to handle your content creation.鈥

However, if the content does not have a visible return on investment (say, an origin video), you might be better served by an in-house video production team.鈥

By providing your in-house team with powerful yet easy-to-use video production automation tools like Quorum, you can empower them to create high-quality video content and enhance your organization鈥檚 corporate live-streaming efforts. With this tool, your in-house team and subject matter experts will have complete control over the production process, ensuring that you end up with a highly accurate and informative video.鈥

A town hall is an organization-wide meeting. Companies, government departments, and education institutions use town hall streaming to review issues, share company results and updates, align teams with organizational goals, link leadership with employees, and identify best performers.鈥

Today鈥檚 employee teams are distributed worldwide, making efficient and seamless communication more challenging. Fortunately, organizations can turn to video to connect teams and maintain employee connections. Streaming meetings enables employees to seek clarifications, offer feedback, and keep up with updates.鈥

Common issues and challenges of town hall streaming

You can use a variety of tools to video stream town hall meetings. However, despite being feature-rich, some of the most popular tools also suffer from many glaring issues. Some of the commonly encountered challenges when using tools like Zoom and Google Meet to livestream town halls include:

  • Complex UI: Zoom is known for its feature-rich nature. However, this can also make it feel less intuitive and more complicated to use. If you are unfamiliar with video streaming tools, you will need help activating video and audio for your live streams when using this tool.
  • Poor video quality: Quality is one of the most obvious issues when video streaming meetings. High-quality video will give your meetings a professional look. However, you might not be able to produce HD video when using some of the available video conferencing tools.鈥
  • Finding and displaying participants: As a host, you need to have an efficient way of finding people when streaming an event with a large group of participants. Zoom does not have a search feature to find other participants and does not give hosts adequate control over the order of the images of participants.
  • Branding: Delivering a customized video stream can be challenging when using tools like Google Meet and Zoom. If you want to create a branded town hall streaming experience, you will need customized lower thirds, background graphics, and more. Such features may not be supported by most of the popular video conferencing tools.

Your town hall meeting will be less productive if you don鈥檛 have practical solutions to these technical streaming challenges.鈥

The need for simple and cost-effective town hall streaming

There is no debating the importance of town halls. However, it is also true that these meetings do not generate a palpable return on investment to justify spending on technical staff a broadcaster might use because the content is a net expense and is unlikely to bring in any revenue.鈥

With that in mind, there is a growing demand for cost-effective town hall broadcast solutions for government and corporate teams.鈥

What is automated video production?鈥

Unlike traditional video production, where everything is done manually, automated video production involves creating and editing videos using a predefined automatic process. Video automation allows you to create numerous dynamic videos without much human intervention.鈥

Tens of millions of meetings are held in the U.S. each day. However, since employees can only recall a fraction ( after an hour of leaving the meeting) of what is discussed, a huge chunk of the valuable information exchanged is lost.鈥

While summaries and minutes can help boost information retention, they fail to capture the details of screen sharing, whiteboards, and other visual aids and reproduce the nuances of conversation.鈥

To overcome these issues, many organizations record their meetings using various video conferencing room solutions.鈥

Recording conference videos has several benefits. First, attendees can direct all their attention to the meeting. Second, anyone absent from the meeting can follow everything that happened by watching or listening to the recording. Third, video conference recordings can enrich an organization鈥檚 shareable content on social media and other platforms.聽

Strategies to record and broadcast high-quality conference video聽

Conference video production can be done in various ways, including the following.

1. Screen recording applications鈥

Screen recording applications can be used to record meetings. These applications are designed to capture both audio and video. They can also record your entire screen or just a part of it.鈥

To record and broadcast your conference:鈥

  • Choose a reliable screen recording software and install it on your devices
  • Launch the software and adjust the audio and video settings to your liking
  • Commence the video meeting and set the software to capture the conference window
  • Start recording 鈥 everything that appears on your window will be recorded
  • At the end of the video, stop recording and save the file鈥

2. Video conferencing platforms鈥

Various video conferencing solutions feature built-in recording capabilities, which allow users to record video conferences. Although each platform has different recording features, they all offer a simple way of capturing video and audio during meetings. Zoom Rooms is among the most commonly used video conferencing room solutions.鈥

To record meetings using these platforms, you will need to:

  • Get a solution with a recording feature
  • Start recording your meeting by locating the recording feature and hitting the record button
  • Finish recording the meeting and save the file

3. Hardware solutions鈥

You can record videos using dedicated hardware devices. Often equipped with additional in-built options such as storage and microphones, these conference room AV systems are primarily designed to capture video and audio.鈥

To record and broadcast meetings using hardware devices, you will need to:

  • Acquire suitable hardware devices/systems
  • Connect the devices to your conferencing system or computer
  • Adjust the settings to match your audio and video preferences
  • Start recording when the meeting/conference commences and stop when it ends

4. Third-party recording and broadcasting software聽

If your conferencing system does not have a recording feature, or you need more powerful recording capabilities, consider using third-party recording software. These solutions come with additional features like editing and post-production processing. To capture the best video, ensure you have the best camera placement.鈥

Steps to record conference video using this strategy:

  • Get a solution that matches your needs and is compatible with your existing video-conferencing AV equipment鈥
  • Install the software and configure the settings
  • Start using the recording and broadcasting software鈥

Turn any conference into value-driving content鈥

Today鈥檚 advanced video conferencing and event AV systems make turning any conference or meeting into valuable content easy. These feature-rich tools simplify every step of the conference video production process, from set up to recording and broadcasting to post-production and processing.鈥

Tools like Quorum are designed to simplify the process of producing and broadcasting high-quality video through automation.鈥

This advanced tool allows inexperienced users to produce professional-grade videos. Quorum is created for use in situations where the sitting position of everyone being filmed is known in advance, such as meetings and conferences. The tool simplifies and automates the process of selecting and highlighting marks/speakers.

This tool is embedded with Ross XPression to help you create stunning visuals and display additional information (like job titles and names) about speakers in the lower third of the screen.鈥

While today鈥檚 tally light systems are highly sophisticated with exceptional capabilities, the early systems were elementary. Dig in as we highlight the incredible transformation of the camera tally light system.

What was the first camera tally light system?

The first tally light system was a simple light atop the camera monitor to provide on-air information. These lights were usually red, and they came on to indicate the live camera feed.

Directors sent cue information to the cameras to let the camera operator and on-air talent know when each camera was live. These tally lights were manually activated. An operator toggled them on or off from the control room.

TV producers labeled each monitor by writing the camera operators鈥 names on tape and sticking them on the monitors.

A brief history of camera tally lights

Early tally systems were manually-controlled red lights stuck on the top of cameras, with limited functionality. With advancing technology, broadcasters started integrating tally lights with electrical systems, allowing for automatic control and increasing the efficiency of live broadcasts.

During the digital era of the 1980s, red incandescent bulbs gave way to brighter, longer-lasting LED bulbs. Producers adopted multi-colored systems like red for live and green for preview to create a smooth transition.

The introduction of software-controlled tally systems in the late 1980s was game-changing. It allowed camera tally systems to interface with routers, mixers, and multiviewers while supporting advanced capabilities.

The Unified Media Lab at Ball State University is where future journalists cut their teeth. It鈥檚 a working newsroom, buzzing with the energy of students producing newspapers, magazines, websites, and their public newscast, Newslink Indiana.

It鈥檚 also home to some impressive newsroom technology that鈥檚 changing how students learn and create, featuring a full stack of 91快活林 tech, including Streamline Pro鈥media asset management (MAM) and online web editor software.

Here’s what they had to say about it.

Learning the tools of the trade

When it comes to news production, speed and precision are everything. It鈥檚 a media asset management system designed for the fast-paced world of journalism. At Ball State, it鈥檚 become the backbone of how students gather, organize, and edit footage.  In simpler terms, it helps students work faster, smarter, and with tools they鈥檒l use in their future careers.

One of the key components of their newsroom system is Inception and Streamline Pro, which are integrated directly with Adobe Premiere Pro. 鈥淥ne of the best things we鈥檝e discovered about Streamline Pro so far is how it talks with Adobe Premiere,鈥 said Terry Heifetz, Senior Lecturer, Department of Media, Ball State University.

Students upload their footage, edit it in Premiere, and manage assets through Streamline Pro鈥檚 plug-in. 鈥淪tudents will work with tools they will see in the real world. A journalist will come in with a card, upload the material, then sit down in Premiere Pro and edit it as they would anywhere. It becomes a Premiere Pro workflow,鈥 said Christopher Kelly, Director of Technical Solutions at 91快活林.

No more guesswork

With their old newsroom computer system, things weren鈥檛 so smooth. Students would cross their fingers and hope their video would show up during broadcasts. 鈥淚n our old system, we never really knew whether the video was there. It was just hoping that it was there when we ran the playlist,鈥 Terry told us.

Now, that uncertainty is a thing of the past. The system lets students check their content immediately, so they know exactly what will air. 鈥淣ow we can look and see, 鈥極h, here鈥檚 the video because I can watch it right now.鈥 We know exactly what it will look like,鈥 Terry added.

Setting students up for success

Ball State鈥檚 journalism program has always been about preparing students for the real world; tools like Streamline Pro are a big part of that. By using the same workflows and Ross technology as professional newsrooms, Ball State is empowering its students to produce content that meets industry standards and sets them apart as job-ready professionals.聽

鈥淥ne of the most appealing aspects of Ross equipment is that it鈥檚 a complete system. It allows students to take what they鈥檙e learning in the classroom and put it into practice. Having the opportunity to work on industry-standard equipment like Ross provides them a great foundation for once they step outside of Ball State University.鈥
–Professor Suzy Smith, Associate Professor of Media, Ball State University.

Transforming the future of journalism

With tools like Streamline Pro, Ball State University isn鈥檛 just teaching students the basics of journalism鈥攖hey鈥檙e giving them the same hands-on experience they鈥檒l need to thrive in professional newsrooms as soon as they start their careers. The ability to work with the latest live video production technology from Ross makes students more confident and capable in the competitive media industry.

Successful live production is an art form that requires TV producers to blend human expertise with technology while making split-second decisions. That’s why tally light systems are a vital component, helping to guide everyone and everything through the complexities of live production. Read on to learn how these systems help producers manage and control the multiple cameras, equipment, and phases involved in modern live video broadcasting.聽聽聽

What is a tally light system?

A tally light system is a signaling mechanism that enhances communication during live broadcasts involving multiple cameras. A controller uses a series of visual cues to help the production team, from the directors to the camera operators and on-screen talent, play their roles flawlessly.

Typically, a tally light is a small signal lamp set on top of a video camera or a monitor, often above the lens or the viewfinder. When a camera is live, the tally light turns red, signaling that its feed is being broadcast to let the on-air talent know which camera to address.聽聽

Modern tally light systems have progressed beyond controlling the tally lights and are more accurately described as tally control systems, covering a wide range of equipment and functionality. Today, we can use the tally system to control virtually every aspect of a live broadcast.

How does a tally light system work?

A tally light or control system comprises a controller that integrates with your video production systems. It uses a programmable software interface to communicate and control multiple on-set equipment.

After receiving signals from routers, video switches, and other production equipment, the system interprets them to determine which camera is live. It then uses color-coded indicators to provide the production crew and the on-stage talent with clear visual clues.

Tally control systems also integrate with other systems to enrich the broadcasting experience. For instance, you may connect them to your graphics systems and update display information, such as overlays, in real time, and even functions outside of production, like controlling studio windows, blinds, or.

Their wide variety of control interfaces, Ethernet, Serial, , and the visibility of signal flow make tally control systems extraordinarily versatile and able to act as a core element of a production automation workflow.

A RESTful interface to a logging system may allow tracking of camera usage throughout a broadcast to help the team assess the correct resource allocations for a production, helping to answer questions like, ‘Did we need to rent that ninth camera that was only on air for eight seconds?’

Serial interfaces allow extensive control of legacy equipment so that it can be redeployed in less sensitive operations to maximize ROI. GPIs are infinitely flexible, from allowing direct interaction with custom circuits for auto failover to receiving basic error statuses for display on a multiviewer.

The visibility into the accurate signal flow of the system and the versatility of interfaces and logic make a tally control system the beating heart of any production, supporting operators and the wider team.

Why do TV productions use tally control systems?

Broadcasters use tally control systems to build efficient video production workflows. It can automate most production processes while allowing your team to function flawlessly.

Benefits of using a video tally system include:

  • A matchless edge when covering live events such as elections, awards, sports, or breaking news
  • Injecting a “live feel” into regular productions such as games and talk shows with minimal post-production work
  • Building a bespoke video production system with no brand or manufacturer limitations
  • Ability to automate most live production processes while enriching viewer experience
  • Minimizing broadcasting failure to ensure smooth, continuous live broadcasts

By Stacey Moorcroft
Director of Business Operations, Global Sports & Live Events, 91快活林

I never really said goodbye to myself as a basketball player. I just transitioned that competitive energy into my career in technology sales.

When I think about what鈥檚 shaped my path in sports broadcasting and live production, it always comes back to teamwork, pressure, and passion 鈥 three things I learned early on from basketball. Growing up in Brockville, Ontario, I was lucky to play the sport I loved at a high level. I wasn鈥檛 always the leading scorer, but I thrived in defense, blocking shots, setting up my teammates, and doing the work that didn鈥檛 always show up on a stat sheet. It turns out that mindset fits perfectly in sales and business operations, too.

At 91快活林, my role is all about making sure the team wins together. The best sales environments, like the best teams, are built on collaboration. I don鈥檛 see success as an individual achievement鈥攊t鈥檚 about ensuring everyone is set up to do their job. If I do my job right, I鈥檓 not just closing a deal 鈥 I鈥檓 helping our clients put on an incredible live production, and I鈥檓 making sure my colleagues have what they need to make that happen.

Thriving under pressure

Live production is a high-stakes world. There鈥檚 always another game, another show, another deadline. There鈥檚 no 鈥渨e鈥檒l do it next week鈥 when a broadcast needs to go live tonight. That鈥檚 something I love about this industry 鈥 the pressure, the urgency, the feeling that what we do matters.

I still remember driving equipment across the border on a long weekend to get it to Sunday Night Football on time. It wasn鈥檛 glamorous, but it was necessary. And that鈥檚 the reality of this industry: sometimes, you step up because there鈥檚 no other option. You figure it out, you get it done, and you do it as a team.

Advocating for clients and building relationships

One of the biggest misconceptions about sales is that it鈥檚 just about pushing a product. But the best sales reps鈥攖he ones who really make a difference鈥攁ren鈥檛 just selling. They鈥檙e problem solvers. They鈥檙e advocates. They鈥檙e working to make sure their customers succeed, whether that鈥檚 through technology, support, or just showing up when things go wrong.

When Bridgestone Arena (home of the Nashville Predators) suffered a flood in their control room, we had to move fast. That鈥檚 what really matters in this business; being there when things go sideways. It鈥檚 easy to take an order when everything is fine, but real relationships are built when you show up in tough moments.

Work-life balance and mental health

For a long time, I didn鈥檛 know how to turn that competitive energy off. And it caught up with me. In 2021, I hit burnout. Hard. I was working too much, isolated in my apartment, and suddenly realized that my entire identity had become wrapped up in work.

That was a wake-up call. I had to learn how to separate my work and personal life 鈥 literally, by getting separate phones. I had to figure out when to push hard and when to step back. And honestly? That鈥檚 still a work in progress. I was diagnosed with ADHD last year, and it helped me understand why I hyperfocus so much on projects, sometimes at the expense of everything else. Learning how to balance ambition with sustainability has been one of the biggest challenges of my career.

Advice for young professionals in live video production

This industry moves fast. There鈥檚 always another event, another deal, another opportunity. But if you鈥檙e just starting out 鈥 especially as a woman in broadcasting or live events 鈥 here are some keys I wish I’d known from the beginning:

  1. Find your people. This industry is built on relationships. Surround yourself with mentors, colleagues, and friends who will support you and push you forward.
  1. Be the one who shows up. Whether that鈥檚 for your clients, your team, or yourself, consistency and reliability will set you apart.
  1. Know when to step back. You can鈥檛 pour from an empty cup. Learn to recognize when you need to recharge before burnout forces you to.
  1. Advocate for yourself and others. If you鈥檙e in a leadership role, take care of your people. If you鈥檙e just starting out, find those who will have your back.
  1. Passion matters, but so does balance. Loving what you do is great, but your career should never be your entire identity.

At the end of the day, I鈥檓 still the same person I was on the basketball court鈥攑laying defense, setting up my teammates, and doing what it takes to win. The difference is that now I鈥檝e learned winning isn鈥檛 just about hard work. It鈥檚 also about showing up for yourself, too. Work hard, be a great teammate, and don鈥檛 lose sight of yourself along the way.

When Vivaro Video decided to switch its on-screen graphics platform from another system to XPression, they faced a tough challenge: transitioning within just two months鈥攚ithout disrupting broadcasts or compromising quality. Thanks to the expertise of 91快活林 and Voltage Studio (a Ross-certified creative agency), Vivaro not only pulled it off but also built the foundation for smoother, more efficient graphics workflows.

Why the change?

After a long and successful history of working with 91快活林 technology, including the Pan American games, Vivaro Video was keen to see how the XPression real-time graphics system could optimize costs and improve workflow efficiency. But making the switch quickly and without downtime was no small feat.

A well-planned transition

The migration was carefully planned to eliminate surprises and create a controlled, familiar environment for Vivaro graphics operators. The teams worked in parallel, building all the necessary graphics packages in XPression, including those for the most prestigious European club tournament 鈥 the English Premier League 鈥 and several other football-focused broadcasts. Graphics were built using the original packages provided by the leagues and files from their previous graphics platform.

XPression鈥檚 Visual Logic and scripting tools played a key role in making operations easier by enabling the automation of many manual tasks like position assignments and logo uploads. That provided plenty of time to thoroughly test the new system before transitioning at the start of each league鈥檚 season, preventing disruption to Vivaro’s broadcast schedule.

Some of the key improvements that XPression brought to the table were:

  • Dynamic logo loading, allowing operators to quickly select a team without searching for specific textures.
  • Automatic text resizing, ensuring graphics always look polished, no matter how much text is included.

These helped to optimize workflows and get their operators up to speed with the new system in just two weeks.

Smooth execution and strong collaboration

A big reason for the project鈥檚 success? Clear, constant communication between Vivaro, Voltage Studio, and Ross. From day one, operators felt confident using XPression thanks to its user-friendly tools, automated workflows, and support from both teams, who were always on hand to answer questions, provide instruction, and offer remote support whenever needed.

鈥淴Pression provided all the guarantees needed for the transition and executed our implementation plan fully,鈥 said Gonzalo Jara, Director of Technology and Operations at Vivaro Video. 鈥淭he quality of the graphics and operations is excellent. Most importantly, what drove the change was Ross鈥檚 commercial proposal, which aligned with the budget adaptation requirements of our project.鈥

Vivaro鈥檚 successful switch to XPression proves that with the right technology, the right technology partners, and strong collaboration, high-stakes technology transitions don鈥檛 have to mean significant downtime or operational headaches鈥攖hey can be smooth, fast, and hassle-free.
